Owner • Consultant
Lauren Smith (L.Smith) has worn many hats. Too many, she thinks. But each hat adds a unique color — a story — to her life. At this point, she needs more closet space.
Born from years of independent contracting projects and a love for writing, Kinder Sea Consulting aims to satisfy Lauren’s love of helping people begin and organize big projects and even bigger dreams. Finding the words to begin is sometimes the hardest part. Luckily, Lauren’s never had difficulty finding them for herself — or others.
Lauren started writing poems, stories, and novels in grade school. She obtained a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida in 2018. Following graduation, she worked in a variety of marketing jobs that involved drafting copy, managing social media, creating content calendars, and executing email marketing campaigns. She has published several articles, op-eds and poems. She finished her first novel in 2024.
- Some samples of her work can be found here.
- Her ongoing lifestyle & life lesson blog lives here.
- Her LinkedIn with active resume is here.
- Her recent publication is a legal treatise, available here.
After a short break for law school, Lauren reignited her passion for communications in 2023. She has spent two years writing for non-profits and advocacy organizations.
Outside of communications, Lauren was an educator in Jacksonville, Florida. She currently develops civics curriculums for grades K-12, co-directs the ALERT Project and provides legal and advocacy services to different organizations, including the Government Accountability Project. Most recently, she finished two years as a full-time public interest attorney (Esq!) in Washington, D.C.
Her passions include American history, advocacy, first amendment law (shocking, we know), and education. She has a strong interest in environmental law. She has made a living out of advocating for others, across all her past (and current) career lives.
On the weekend you can find her working, writing, hiking, and questioning what exactly her puppy, Roosevelt, is into now. (The usual answer? Something she shouldn’t be in to begin with).
